Poetry Month: Writer’s Digest PAD challenge, Day 26:  a Shakespeare word or two or (18) poem

Alas, the rub

In this brave new world
It is cold-comfort knowing
Some madcap, new fangled
Pageantry will make one laughable.
Is it best to rant against
The savagery and besmirch
these flawed machinations?
Or to mimic this outbreak
Of artificial swagger rather than scuffle
And arouse its attentions?
Perhaps wait for them to dwindle into
Gnarled remnants of tainted past.
Ah – the jaded shall remain,
Come what may.
