Poetry Month: Writer’s Digest PAD challenge, day nine topic: a work poem

The trees

It seems to me that
Spring is all dress rehearsals and giddy apprehension,
All makeup and no lights –
Summer then – all shows and recitals,
Full fancy in flight.
While Autumn tucks in its tails after all the encores,
Rests on her laurels.
And Winter- well
in Winter it is all hands backstage
readying the sets,
under cover, undiscovered,
Seems to me,
the seasons are wrought from
Winter’s unwavering work.
